Islington Better Lives Drug and Alcohol Service

  • Our Islington Better Lives service offer a free and confidential support for individuals and their families affected by drug and alcohol problems. 

    We are an integrated service delivered by North London NHS Foundation Trust and Waythrough.

    Our services

    When you come to us, you'll first have an assessment to understand your needs. After that, you'll be assigned a keyworker, and together, you’ll create a care plan. We offer the following support:

    • Comprehensive assessments  to understand your needs
    • One-to-one keyworking  with your personal support worker
    • Physical health support, including blood-borne virus testing, liver scans, and referrals to local physical health services in Islington
    • Recovery-Oriented Group Work, including women’s groups, self-help groups, and mutual aid groups
    • Abstinence-Based Day Programme  for those seeking to stay sober
    • Opiate Substitute Prescribing  to help manage addiction
    • Alcohol Relapse Prevention Medication
    • Community Alcohol Detox  services
    • Psychological Therapy  to support mental health
    • Access to residential detoxification and rehabilitation  for more intensive care
    • Counselling  for personal support
    • Dedicated workers  for those using Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS)
    • Debt and housing advice  to help with financial and living situations
    • Comprehensive aftercare, including relapse prevention groups, education, training, and employment (ETE) support, plus complementary therapies

    Family support

    Our Family Service offers guidance, advice, and support for family members affected by addiction.
