Complementary therapy
Complementary therapies take a holistic approach, meaning that they help to address physical, emotional, psychological aspects of wellbeing rather than treating symptoms in isolation. Sessions are an opportunity to connect with your body in a healthful way and they can support you in different stages of recovery.
Auricular (ear) acupuncture
Acupuncture is a simple yet effective, ancient healing practice. We offer auricular acupuncture in a drop-in, group settings. Ear acupuncture is often used in substance recovery as it has been found to help with calming the mind, relieving pain, withdrawal symptoms, cravings and stress.
Craniosacral Therapy
CST is a non-invasive, hands-on therapy that supports the body’s innate ability to balance and restore. During a treatment, you will lie fully clothed on a treatment table and experience the light touch of the therapist’s hands. The practitioner senses tensions in the body and helps to release them in a supported and comfortable way. During or after a session you may feel calm and energised, with increased clarity of mind and a feeling of wellbeing.
Mindful Movement
Easy-to-follow restorative movement class with gentle physical exercises on a chair or on the floor, breath awareness and plenty of relaxation. Mindful movement helps to keep the body mobile, balance moods and energy levels and to manage stress, aches and pain. The content and teaching are adapted to the participants and the class takes place in a relaxing, supportive setting. Come along and give it a go even if you haven’t tried anything like it before.
Massage Therapy
We have options for massage therapy using a massage table or a chair, clothed massage or treatments that use oil or wax on the skin. Our massage therapists are experienced, skilled people who adapt their treatment plans to your needs whether you want a moment of deep relaxation or a treatment to ease long-held tensions in the body. The therapists use a variety of techniques from kneading to long, calming strokes, from pressure points to joint mobilisations and stretches.
The benefits of massage therapy are wide ranging from increased movement and circulation to reduced pain, tension and stress. Massage therapy can help to improve mood, sleep and immune function.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a touch therapy based on the idea that different areas of the feet correspond to organs and systems of the body.
Using gentle pressure, the reflexologist works the areas of the feet to increase relaxation and to reduce stress. Reflexology treatments seek to bring the mind and the body into a more balanced state, promoting a sense of overall wellbeing.
